The “Old Lady” never grows old, on the contrary, she has become young in this fall and may be even younger in the following winter. Why I said that? If you happened to see Chanel’s RTW Fall/Winter 2009, you would agree with me.
Being through the seasons with the priority of coat-dresses and skirtsuits, Karl Lagerfeld has presented a stylish version of most poised and charming fashion. If the Chanel Spring-Summer 2009 Haute Couture collection shown in Paris earlier this year is regarded as singing the praises of a new modest beginning by using immaculate white color, this Fall/Winter 2009 RTW collection has applied the complete opposite design concept, confering highly glory upon black , every kind of black.
With various kinds of new suits coming in file, it seems that Karl never worries about the economy. Inspired by the “Beau Brummell”, we can see it from Karl’s creations that besides the false austerity of the black contrasts with the lightness of the white, this time he also added two sweet colors: pale green and baby pink. Especially when I saw the jewelries combined with green and pink among the monochrome world, they turned to be the most fresh and lovely designs ever ever.
Softened with ruffled collars and sleeves, this severe black-and-white palette was also flooded by removable collars and cuffs, demurely layered plunging necklines, tulle stitched with flowers or featherweight cashmere, hints of mint, high-waisted bouclé skirtsuits, sexy and elegant menwear, etc.
I really love this series, and the jewelry is fabulous, makeup is wonderful and the whole RTW… totally drool worthy! Although each piece is overpriced, Karl still succeeded in stimulating our lust of purchase. Now the only thing I am thinking of is to win a lottery…
