This Fall/Winter 2009 of Chanel collection has continued the Dandy Look childe style, but Dandy Look is honored for experienced collar and cuff. So it’s not easy to find the perfect bracelet to match with, thus 0n the design of the bracelet, Karl Lagerfeld continues his favourite magnificent Byzantine style.

Featuring the Maltese cross on the front of the bracelet, which is based on the relinquish adapted to in Crusades, which is a metaphorical of knightly virtues, such as patriotism, honesty, heroism, honor. Containing with so many meanings, it’s natural that it’s regarded as the symbol of nobleness.

The Maltese cross is differentiated from other cross designs in that the four arms of the cross are equal in length and they widen as they extend from the middle of the cross. The origin of this cross design was that shown on the back of the robes worn by the Knights Hospitallers – a religious and political order headquatered in Malta in the 11th century.

The original Chanel cross was designed by Verdura and was made of hand-poured glass. Mlle. Chanel’s later designs were inspired by early Persian and Egyptian jewelry. As an aside – Fulco di Verdura, designer of the Maltese Cross collection for Chanel, went on to open his own design house which is still thriving today.

Perhaps the designers don’t know the exact religious meaning behind this symbol, however, this simple figure with several pearls or crystals could turn to have a gorgeous and kingly glamour. It is undoubtedly a thousands years of classic.
